In 1Q16, the transactional market in Mexico closed with a total of 55 mergers and acquisitions, with a combined deal value of USD 7.374bn, which represents a year-on-year decrease of 16.67% in the number of transactions and of 9.85% in deal value. Regarding sectors, the most active ones so far have been the tourism, hotel, and restaurant sector, with six transactions; the real estate, and insurance and financial sectors, with five transactions; and the food and beverage sector, with four. In 1Q16, TTR selected the acquisition of Mexico-based Mabe by Belgium-based Ontex, worth USD 259.55m, as a standout transaction.
