In the second quarter of 2014, the Mexican transactional market was strong and dynamic, both in number of deals registered and the investment volume generated. The number of transactions, both announced and closed, increased by 24.4%, compared with the same period last year; 34 deals in 2013 and 45 this year.

The investment volume generated between April and July was USD 13.59bn. Even though last year the amount generated was USD 28.14bn, it is important to take into account an extra-large deal carried out by Grupo Modelo, for USD 20.10bn. Deducting this amount, it would imply a 68% increase this year.

Regarding the most relevant deals this quarter, highlights include AT&T’s sale of a 7.18% stake in América Móvel to Inmobiliaria Carso and Controladora Empresarial de Capitales, two Mexico-based companies owned by Carlos Slim. The deal value was USD 5.90bn. Furthermore, US-based PGG Industri
