In April, the investment volume generated in Latin America increased by 17.7% compared with the same period last year, increasing from USD 5.84bn last year to USD 6.87bn this year. On the other hand, the number of deals decreased slightly; from 137 last year to 129 in April 2015.
Highlights include the acquisition of Nextel México by US-based AT&T, for USD 1.88bn. In addition, Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), reached an agreement to acquire Chile-based Aguas de Antofagasta (ADASA) held by Chile-based Inversión Punta Rieles, a subsidiary of UK-based Antofagasta (a company controlled by Grupo Luksic). The deal value was USD 965m.
