In the first six months of the year the Brazilian mergers and acquisitions market decreased by 7% in the number of transactions recorded in the same period last year. Were recorded 441 transactions which traded BRL 76.5bn taking into account transactions with disclosed value. The Brazilian M&A market showed a 6% decrease in the number of registered transactions so far in 2016, compared to the same period of 2015. In total, between January and May 363 transactions were carried out, moving BRL 61.9bn.

The Brazilian M&A market registered a 3.23% increase in the number of private equity transactions and a 32.54% increase in the total volume traded by these transactions in the first four months of 2016. At the same time, during this period, the Brazilian market saw a 19% decrease in the total number of transactions registered in April 2016, compared to the same period of 2015. In 1Q16, the M&A market in Brazil registered 20% fewer transactions, compared to the same period of 2015. In total, 198 transactions were registered, turning over BRL 29.72bn, 12% more than in the same period of 2015. In the first three months of the year, there was a 35% increase in the number of transactions in the Technology sector and a 15% increase in the Financial and Insurance sector, compared to 1Q15. Brazil - February 2016

In the first two months of 2016, the Brazilian transactional market registered a total of 111 deals, both announced and closed, including asset acquisition, and an aggregate value of BRL 27.25bn. In February 2016, the aggregate value was BRL 15.38bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values, equivalent to a 473% increase compared with the same period last year. In January 2016, the Brazilian transactional market registered a total of 52 deals, both announced and closed, generating an aggregate value of approximately BRL 10.81bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values. When compared with the same period last year, there was a 39% decrease in the number of deals, but the aggregate value increased by 175%, caused the closure and announcement of high valued transactions, such as the acquisition of Hypermarcas by Reckitt Benckiser Brasil, for BRL 675m.
