In the second quarter of 2014, the Brazilian transactional market registered 170 deals, both announced and closed, compared with 180 recorded in the previous quarter. Regarding the same period last year, there was a decrease of approximately 16% in the number of deals. However, there was a 16,6% decrease compared with the same period last year. In April, the Brazilian transactional market registered 43 transactions, both announced and concluded, which represents a decrease of approximately 40% compared with the same period last year. The investment volume generated was approximately BRL 6bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values.

In February, the Brazilian transactional market registered 65 deals, both announced and closed, which represents a 25% increase compared with the same period last year. The total investment volume generated was approximately BRL 15bn, taking into account deals with registered values.
This month’s largest deal was the acquisition agreement signed by foreign-based acquirers Trafigura and Mubadala of a 65% stake in MMX Porto Sudeste, a subsidiary of MMX. The deal value was USD 400m, plus debt assumption valued at BRL 1,30bn.

In January 2014, the Brazilian transactional market registered 50 deals, both announced and closed, compared with 64 in the same period last year. The investment volume generated this month was BRL 8,35bn, taking into account deals with registered values.
The largest deal this month was the voluntary takeover offer to acquire a 39,91% stake in COELCE - Companhia Energética do Ceará, which will be carried out by Chile-based Enersis.
