In April, the Brazilian transactional market recorded the largest number of deals this year, close to the average registered in 2012. The investment volume was approximately BRL 18,093bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values; 34,32% correspond to the smaller market in deal size (< BRL 200m), with a total value of BRL 1bn. In addition, seven deals were registered with values superior to BRL 500m, generating BRL 15,277bn, which exceeds the investment volume recorded in the second semester of 2012.

Brazil - First Quarter 2013

In the first quarter of 2013, the Brazilian transactional market had a deal volume of R$ 17bn, compared to R$ 52.8bn in the same period last year. 166 deals were registered this quarter, which corresponds to 21% less than in the first quarter of 2012. Approximately 33.7% of all deals registered had a deal value below R$ 200m, totaling some R$ 3.9bn. The Brazilian transactional market registered less deals this month than in January, and the least number of deals in the last 12 months. Total deal volume this month was BRL 3,900bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values. 53.19% of all deals registered in January, had a deal value below BRL 200m, totaling approximately BRL 1,100bn. The Brazilian transactional market recorded the lowest number of deal of the last 12 months, and generated a total of R$ 5,000bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values; 68% correspond to the smaller market (< R$ 200m), with a total value of R$ 1,360bn.
This month's largest deal was the agreement signed by BNDESPar for an investment of R$ 600m in GraalBio, held by Gradin family. As a result of this transaction, BNDESPar now holds a 15% stake in the company's share capital.
