In April, the Brazilian transactional market recorded the largest number of deals this year, close to the average registered in 2012. The investment volume was approximately BRL 18,093bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values; 34,32% correspond to the smaller market in deal size (< BRL 200m), with a total value of BRL 1bn. In addition, seven deals were registered with values superior to BRL 500m, generating BRL 15,277bn, which exceeds the investment volume recorded in the second semester of 2012.

This month's largest deal was in the education segment. Kroton Educacional and Anhanguera Educacional Participações announced their merger. This deal could reach BRL 4,99bn. With this transaction, Anhanguera Educacional Participações will be integrated in Kroton Educacional through the issue of new shares.

Regarding cross-border deals, we registered 25 acquisitions by foreign companies in Brazil. The United States was, once again, the most active country, with nine acquisitions, followed by The Netherlands with three acquisitions. Regarding capital markets, BB Seguridade concluded an IPO that generated BRL 1,475bn. It was the largest deal of this type in the world this year.
