In the first three quarters of 2013, the Brazilian transactional market generated approximately BRL 107,60bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values. The third quarter was the most active of the year, with 234 deals registered compared with 197 recorded in the same period last year.

Taking into account the last nine months, the internet subsector was the most active, with 62 deals registered. It is worthy of note that during 2012 the internet segment was not among the five most active. In this period, US-based companies made 83 acquisitions in Brazil, whereas in the last three months 28 acquisitions were registered in Brazilian companies. The investment volume generated was BRL 8,20bn, taking into account deals with disclosed values.

In the third quarter of 2013, the private equity and venture capital sector continued the growth trend set in previous quarters. A total of 50 deals were registered. The investment volume generated was some BRL 9,6bn, compared with BRL 663m generated in the same period last year, taking into account deals with disclosed values.
