In 2014, the Colombian transactional market was particularly active, and registered an 18% increase in the number of deals compared with the previous year; a total of 142 transactions in 2013 compared with 168 in 2014. On the other hand, the investment volume increased by 34.3% compared with 2013, and generated USD 14.60bn.
Among the largest deals, highlights include the merger between UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones and Tigo Colombia, for some USD 3.90bn. Furthermore, Banco Itaú Unibanco and Corpbanca acquired a stake in CorpBanca Colombia (former Banco Santander Colombia), for USD 894m.
