SPAIN

According to Transactional Track Record's monthly M&A Report, Spain's mergers and acquisitions market closed the first seven months of 2019 with 1,327 transactions and a moved capital of EUR 44.63bn. The report also provides a complete analysis about the most prominent transactions of the cross-border segment, as well as the market's most active sectors, which shows Real Estate is still the sector with the highest number of deals, with 360 transactions. Meanwhile, both the Private Equity and Venture Capital segments registered a downturn on this period regarding the number of deals, comparing with the same period the previous year. The league tables in the last pages of the report reflect the activity of the legal and financial advisors, based on transactions announced in 2019 YTD.

PORTUGAL

According to Transactional Track Record's July 2019 M&A Report, from January to July there was a 7% increase in the volume of mergers and acquisitions compared with the same period of 2018. Meanwhile, the section dedicated to the cross-border segment presents analyses correlating the foreign countries investing in Portugal and the sub-sectors of those investments, which shows Spain-based companies retain an increasing interest in Portugal-based companies, with 27 transactions registered in the period. Additionally, the Venture Capital sector recorded transactions with an aggregate value of EUR 200m. Finally, the league tables in the last pages of the report reflect the activity of the legal and financial advisors, based on transactions announced in 2019 YTD.
