In November 2016, the Mexican M&A market experienced an optimistic period, registering 30 transactions, of which 16 had a combined non-confidential deal value of USD 2bn.
These figures reflect an increase of 67% in the number of transactions and of 651% in their value, compared to November 2015. Out of those 16 deals with non-confidential values, nine are low-market (deal value under USD 100), six are mid-market (between USD 100m and USD 500m), and one is high-market (over USD 500m).

Mexico - First, Second & Third Quarter 2016

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, the Mexican M&A market registered a total of 72 transactions, of which 40 have non-confidential deal values that add up USD 9.83m. These numbers reflect a decrease of 5% in transactions and an increase of 10% in their value, compared to the same period of 2015. Meanwhile, 223 transactions have been registered this year, of which 113 recorded an amount of USD 23,033m, entailing a decrease of 7% in transactions and 24% in the values compared to the same period of 2015.

In August, the Mexican M&A market registered 20 transactions with an aggregate value of USD 1.71bn. These figures reflect a decrease of 20% in the number of transactions and of 62% in their value, compared to August 2015. The Mexican M&A market experienced a 159.28% increase in the value of registered transactions in July, compared to the same month of 2015. The increase occurred despite the fact 25 deals were recorded in July 2016, compared to 27 in July 2015. Of the 25 deals, nine are low-market (deal value under USD 100), four are mid-market (between USD 100m and USD 500m), and three are high-market (over USD 500m). Meanwhile, three of the deals are venture capital and another three, private equity.

Mexico - First and Second Quarter 2016

The Mexican transactional market closed 2Q16 with 89 mergers and acquisitions of an aggregate value of USD 4.79bn, which entails a year-on-year decrease of 10.10% in the number of transactions and 64.02% in their value.
