Mexico - May 2014

In May, the Mexican transactional market continued its dynamic activity. The investment volume increased by 57% compared with the same period last year, increasing from USD 1.92bn in 2013 to USD 3,01bn in 2014. This was the result of several closed deals in the high-end market in deal size (>USD 500m), such as the acquisition made by Mexico-based Grupo Bimbo of Canada Bread. The deal value was USD 1.68bn.

Mexico - April 2014

In April, the Mexican transactional market remained stable as far as the number of overall deals, with 14 transactions recorded, the same number as in April 2013. Regarding other countries in Latin America, Brazil was the most active followed by Mexico, and Colombia was the third. Mexico - First Quarter 2014

In the first quarter of 2014, the Mexican M&A market was particularly active. The number of deals registered increased by 53,1% compared with the same period last year; 32 deals in 2013 compared with 49 this year. The investment volume also increased, generating USD 5,317m this year compared with USD 3,499m in the same period last year.

In February, the Mexican transactional market was particularly active, following a trend set in previous months. The investment volume and number of deals registered increased compared with the same period last year. This month, 12 deals were registered, both announced and closed, which represents a 12% increase with respect to February 2013. The Mexican transactional market was particularly active in January 2014, continuing a trend set in previous months. A total of 17 deals were recorded, both announced and closed, which represents a 23% increase compared with the same period last year. On the other hand, the investment volume decreased to USD 1.01bn, compared with USD 2.69bn in January of 2013. In spite of this, highlights include several large transactions.
