On the other hand, in the first 10 months of the year there have been a total of 2,705 transactions, of which 45% register a joint amount of USD 82,780m, which implies a decrease of 13% in the number of transactions and a 38% decrease in its amount, compared to the same period of 2021.

Ranking of transactions by country

According to data from October, by volume, Brazil leads the ranking of the most active countries in the region with 1,860 transactions, which represents a 14% year-on-year decrease, and with a 43% decrease in mobilized capital, which has reached USD 48,866m. It is followed on the list by Mexico, with 352 transactions (an increase of 3%) and a decrease of 18% in its amount (USD 13,305m), compared to the same period in 2021.

For its part, Chile rose its position in the ranking, with 234 transactions (a 20% decrease) and a 16% decrease in mobilized capital (USD 12,722m). Colombia, for its part, rises one position in the ranking and reflects 211 transactions in the first 10 months of 2022 (6% increase) and a mobilized capital that has reached USD 8,475m (with a 12% decrease compared to the year previous). Argentina, for its part, continues in fifth place in the ranking and registers 153 transactions (a decrease of 13%) and a decrease of 66% in mobilized capital (USD 3,837m).

In last place, Peru registered 92 transactions (16% decrease) and a 43% decrease in mobilized capital (USD 1,894m).

Cross-Border Scope

In the cross-border sphere, the investment appetite of Latin American companies abroad stood out in October, especially in North America and Europe, where 80 and 63 transactions were carried out in each region, respectively. For their part, the companies that have carried out the most strategic transactions in Latin America come from North America and Europe, with 482 and 353, respectively.

Private Equity, Venture Capital and Asset Acquisitions

Until October 2022, a total of 146 Private Equity transactions for USD 7,535m have been recorded, which represents a 15% decrease in transaction volume and a 40% decrease in their amount, compared to the same period of the previous year. .

For its part, the Venture Capital segment has recorded a total of 882 transactions up to October with an aggregate amount of USD 7,307m, which implies a negative variation of 4% in the number of transactions and a decrease of 54% in their amount. in year-on-year terms.

In the Asset Acquisitions segment, until the end of October, 271 transactions have been registered, for a value of USD 13,444m, which represents a decrease of 21% in the number of transactions and a decrease of 46% in their amount, with compared to the same period of 2021.
