February 2021

Transactions in Chile decreased by 14% in 2020

The total aggregate value of transactions has dropped more than 53%

According to Transactional Track Record (TTR) platform, the number of transactions in Chile in 2020 decreased by 14% compared to 2019. The total number of trades was 227, in comparison from 264 of the previous year. That keeps the tendency showed in each one of the quarters of the year. (See table below).

Despite this light decrease in the number of deals, the transactions’ total aggregate value reduction seems more worrying. The value of the transactions is 53.21% lower than the past year. $6595 million is the total value of the transactions registered in 2020. 2019 closed with a total aggregate of more than $14095 million.

The United States remains as the origin of most of the investments in Chile. But the target country for Chilean investors is the neighbour Peru.
